Explore
The Rajamala Zone is the only accessible tourism area inside Eravikulam National Park. It spans rolling hills and high-altitude shola grasslands.
Visitors reach this area by taking mandatory forest department mini-buses from the 5th Mile base. Private vehicles cannot enter past the entry gates. Once inside, you can explore designated walking paths to protect the 97-square-kilometer ecosystem.
This zone protects the largest wild population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Keep in mind the park closes entirely for 45 to 60 days every February and March for the calving season.

Walk this designated paved path that winds through the high-altitude shola grasslands. The trail is known for Neelakurinji flowers, which bloom only once every 12 years. The next mass flowering is expected in 2030. Look closely at the rocky slopes to spot herds of Nilgiri Tahr.
